Pre-Save Swaps let you reward fans for pre-saving your music before it releases. Fans pre-save your release on the streaming services you choose, then get access to a reward you set up, like early access to a track, video, or exclusive content.
Step-by-Step (Interactive)
Step-by-Step (Text Only)
Step 1: Start a New Swap
From your dashboard, click Swaps under Growth Tools in the left sidebar. This takes you to your Swaps dashboard, where you can see your existing swaps and their performance.
Click + Create in the top right to start a new swap.
Step 2: Pick a Goal
Choose Get Pre-Saves as your goal. This option rewards fans for pre-saving your music and is powered by FeatureFM.
Click Next to continue.
ā¹ļø Note: Other goals available here are Grow Contact List, Get Fan Input, and Make Money, in case you want to build a different type of swap in the future.
Step 3: Set Up Your Release
On the Set Up page, fill in the following:
Scan Source: Paste the ISRC or UPC code for your release
Release Date and Time Zone: Set when your release goes live and in what time zone
Cover Image: Click Add Media to upload your cover art, then confirm or replace it
Song or Album Title: Enter the name of your release
Description: Add a short description of the swap
Streaming Services: Use the toggles to choose which services fans can pre-save on (Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music, SoundCloud, Audiomack, YouTube Music)
Click Next once everything is filled in.
š” Tip: Apple Music shows as "Pre-Add" instead of "Pre-Save" to fans, since that matches Apple Music's own terminology.
Step 4: Configure Settings
On the Settings page, you can:
Let fans follow you on Spotify: Toggle this on and add your Spotify Artist URL so fans can follow you with one tap when they pre-save
Future Saves: Let fans opt in once to automatically pre-save all your future releases. This is a one-time setup
Release-day notification emails: Automatically email fans on release day
Click Next to continue.
ā ļø Heads up: Future Saves and Release-day notification emails both require the Starter Plan. If you want to try them out, you can start a free 14-day trial.
Step 5: Add the Fan Reward
On the Reward page, upload the media file fans will unlock after pre-saving. You can either:
Upload Media: Upload a file directly (supports .mp4, .mov, .mpeg, .webm, .mp3, .wav, .ogg, .aac, .m4a, up to 1 GB)
Link/Embed Video: Add a URL instead of uploading a file
Click Next once your media is added.
Step 6: Set Up What's Next for Fans
On the What's Next page, you can add a banner to your landing page that fans see after they pre-save. This banner can direct fans to your channel or a custom link.
Toggle the switch on to enable the banner, then fill in:
Banner Headline: A short headline (up to 40 characters)
Supporting Text: A short description (up to 65 characters)
Send Fans To: Choose whether the banner links to Your Channel or a Custom Link
ā ļø Heads up: Custom Link also requires the Starter Plan. If you want to try it out, you can start a free 14-day trial.
Step 7: Publish Your Swap
Once all four sections (Set Up, Settings, Reward, What's Next) show a green checkmark, click Publish in the top right to make your swap live.
ā
You will see a confirmation that your swap published successfully, along with your live swap link (for example, ps.grouped.com/yourlink). From here you can:
Click Continue Editing to keep working on the swap
Click Exit to Dashboard to return to your Swaps dashboard
Step 8: You're All Set
Once published, your Pre-Save Swap is live and ready to share. Copy your swap link and share it with fans to start collecting pre-saves.
š” From your Swaps dashboard, you can track performance at any time, including Total Views, Total Signups, Conversion Rate, and your Top Performing Swaps.
